Planning for College

By October 31, 2014December 14th, 2020Faith & Learning

It's never to early to get a head start on planning for college.

U.S. News Best College Rankings, released earlier in September, included a lot of good information about paying for college. Check out this great infographic HERE.  According to U.S. News, college tuition increased 2-3% just this year.  Imagine what those numbers could look like when your 4th grader is ready to head off to college!

We want to help you prepare and will offer a free College Funding Seminar for families wanting to learn how best to save and to pay for college. This seminar will be held in the Calvin Christian High School Library on Thursday, November 6, 7:00 – 8:15 p.m.  The workshop will be led by Adam Skumawitz, Financial Associate and Certified College Planning Specialist with Thrivent Financial.  Some of the topics covered will include: college cost realities, strategies for managing incomes and assets, and various college funding vehicles. This is a free presentation of interest to parents of any age child and is open to anyone who would like to attend. Because each family’s circumstances are so unique and different, Adam and Thrivent Financial will be offering Free Consultation appointments to review your college funding strategy.

Don't have time to attend the seminar? Start your college financial planning by doing some research of your own. The SmartStudent Guide to Financial Aid is a great place to begin. Click HERE for a list of parent resources and a step by step plan to help you get started.
