Creative and Performing Arts at Calvin

Performing ArtsVisual ArtsMusical Arts

Calvin recognizes the place of the arts in the development of the whole child as a Biblical mandate. God is the Creator. We are His image bearers called to reflect His beauty, grace and love. Through the musical, performing and visual arts, Calvin is committed to fully developing the creative gifts of God’s children in order to glorify him through unique avenues of self-expression and praise which affirm and celebrate each child. We see the Arts as a reflection of the creative beauty of our God.

In addition to a wide variety of arts opportunities in the curriculum, Calvin offers several options in the co-curricular junior high and high school program as well. These programs present another avenue to develop the skills, discipline and character that are consistent with a Biblical world and life view.

Performing Arts

The Arts at Calvin are a place where each student can find, develop and use their God given talents and gifts.

Welcome to Heritage Center Performing Arts at Calvin Christian School! HCPA produces several musicals and plays throughout the school year. We bring in wonderful local Musical Theater experts to teach your children, grades 1-12, how to discover and develop the gifts God gave them. It is our goal to create a community fueled by volunteerism, fun, worship, and a love for theater!

Visual Arts

The Arts at Calvin are a place where each student can find, develop and use their God given talents and gifts. Art is a process of making and interpreting visual reminders of God’s creation. There is a contemplative relationship between the artist and his work, and between humans and art in general. One should not take for granted the ability and opportunity to contemplate what is created, the process of creation, the product of creation and even the message of the creation. The Calvin Christian Art Department strives encourage students to produce and appreciate work that encourages truth, goodness, and beauty. The arts help to shape and balance the whole child as an image bearer of their Maker.

Musical Arts

Students have the opportunity to learn how to play a musical instrument beginning in 5th grade. After selecting an instrument at the beginning of the year, students attend band practice three days a week with the Junior High and High School music instructors, Daniel Seaman and Emily Lund. Throughout the year, our band members perform in various concerts.
