Giving to Others

By December 6, 2013December 14th, 2020Faith & Learning

It’s so easy to get caught up in the hustle and bustle of one of the busiest times of the year. We’re busy trying to find that one perfect gift for our children, our parents, our sisters or brothers.  We’re busy planning the big Christmas dinner or the trip back home. Sometimes, we can begin to lose sight of what this holiday season is all about.

“For God so loved the world that HE gave his only Son”

We’re celebrating the greatest gift of all. What a gift God gave to us!

With the great example that God has given us, here at Calvin, our students have an opportunity to give to those that live in our community.

Our entire school is participating in the Salvation Army’s Angel Tree toy drive. We’re gathering new toys for children in our community who are less fortunate and may otherwise not receive a gift for Christmas.

At the High School, Project Angel is another way our students are giving. The goal is to share the reason we celebrate Christmas by giving a Christmas party to some of the children from Lincoln Elementary School, in downtown Escondido. The gifts will be given to the students from Lincoln during a Christmas party later this month. Our students will perform a skit of the Christmas story and our Faith Expression choral group will sing at the party.

If you want to donate new toys for either of these service projects, please ask a teacher or see the front office for more information.
