For We Are His Workmanship

By September 4, 2014December 14th, 2020Faith & Learning

For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works,
which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.
Ephesians 2:10

The bell is ringing, the shrill noise gathering the children into our halls of learning at Calvin Christian.  The children eagerly run to their teachers, who greet them on one of the first days of the new year.  Learning begins with devotions or prayer, then on through the plans of the day.  At Calvin, the curriculum does not consist solely of books and paper, but of opportunities for learning and growth in all areas of life, physical, spiritual, emotional, and intellectual. The work of the student is everything that the teacher has prepared for them to do inside the classroom, as well as all the activities outside the classroom, such as recess and lunch. Wherever you go, there is a lot of good work to be done here at school.

Ephesians 2:10 talks about the works that God has prepared for us in Christ, works we are to “walk” in.  Our purpose as God’s new creations, saved by grace, is to walk in the works that God has prepared for us beforehand.  From class to class and minute by minute, there are opportunities for good works set in front of our students.  As they walk through these first days and throughout this year my prayer is that they will have eyes to see the works set before them:  opportunities to love God, to love others, and to love the work set before them.  With God’s help, may we all glorify Him this year in everything that we do.
